Update...

I haven`t posted in a while. Nothing much has been going on and i`ve been busy, its been hot and i haven`t been in the typing mood. The biggest news i have is that i came off my bike and broke my arm recently. Fun and joy!!

But anyway, i`m currently on 6 weeks paid holiday!! WooHoo!! And i`ll be spending a bit of time overseas which will be nice. I promise to write more about that when i`m back.

In the meantime, entertain yourself with this great game....

大坂城

I was at Osaka-jyo the other week and discovered this nice view of the castle that i`d never seen before. So, with nothing to do this weekend i decided to ride my bike out there and take some photos of my favorite place in O-town.

Mysterious Cities Of Gold.

I was surfing YouTube the other day and found some stuff about one of my all time favorite TV shows that i hadn`t thought about in years and years... The Mysterious Cities Of Gold.

I loved this show when i was a kid, i mean really really loved it. I can remember writing stories about The Golden Condor in 2nd grade. I can`t believe i forgot about Esteban and the gang for so long.

I was doing a bit of research about the show and discovered it was actually made for Japanese TV but it wasn`t popular here so they changed it to English. I even found a Japanese version of the opening credits. The song sucks ass compared to the English once but its amusing to watch and 礼子 remembered it after listening once or twice (i made have been playing these videos over and over excitedly).

I got really excited last month because i heard AC/DC are finally recording a new album that will be out later in the year and now i just found out a Mysterious Cities of Gold movie may be in the works as well. What a year!! I don`t know how to handle this much excitement.

GWS... going to bed and dreaming about flying with Esteban in the Golden Condor.

A few friends, a few beers and a few horses.

On Sunday a few friends joined Glen and i out at Kyoto Racecourse. It was the last meeting for the season - the horses head up to race in the cooler Hokkaido weather during summer - and quite a lot of people were there.

We had a few beers, a few very small wins and many laughs. It was a good day out and everyone is keen to go again. Yay!!

Kyosai.

I think i recently swore off going to art galleries unless there was a specific exhibition i wanted to see. Well, there was an exhibition i specifically wanted to see at The Kyoto National Museum, so i went there yesterday!

The exhibition was called "Kyosai". I knew nothing about it aside from the yellow advertising posters i had seen on the train. I don`t know enough about art to really talk about or describe the exhibition... but i loved it. Really really loved it. The painter, Kawanabe Kyosai, was obviously a very interesting bloke who loved his sake.
The paintings were in a kind of ukiyo-e style but with lots of little ghosts, demons, blood and other funny stuff including a great painting that went by the name of "Fart Battle". Let me be lazy and just plagiarise from the museums website... "The Japanese catch phrase for the exhibition might be translated, "His works are so bizarre, they'll make you want to cry." Be shocked and surprised to discover both the bizarre and the beautiful in this artist's stunning repertoire."

A massive stage curtain that he painted for some theater company. apparently he did it in under 4 hours.
It was a very entertaining afternoon and if possible i recommend you try and visit, you may even see little old me there because i`m thinking about going back!

GWS... in love with the art world again!!
